Scottie now checks my neck when I pick her up to see if I might be wearing a necklace she wants to wear. Yesterday with pointing and talking she got me to go upstairs to my jewelry box to get the necklace she likes to wear the most- it’s silver with locks that have a T and C and hearts with S and N. She also wants to wear my mouse shoes all the time. The cuteness is beyond.

Charlie keeps a small step stool next to his bed on which he arranges Legos, pieces of paper, favorite books and stuffed animals. He calls it his desk. He is going to love having a desk.

Teddy asked me for a “double bed”. I thought it was very grown up of him but then he said “one bed and another bed on top.” He meant a bunk bed but that was so smart to know it was double the amount of a regular bed.

Teddy has been carrying around a little mouse for days. Charlie complained this morning “why does teddy get the tiniest mouse and I don’t?”

Much like the time he cried in the car and I asked what was wrong and through sobs he said “teddy won’t tell me how small of a tiny puppy he wants. “

The babies love saying “baby” and the whole car ride to Mitzi and grandpas the other night they said “baby, beebee, baby, beebee” over and over and over again. At points I joined in.

MJ went for a run with me the other morning in Rock Creek. As we parted ways (so he could speed up), he kissed me and said “Nice to meet you,” for the benefit of everyone else on the jogging path.

I hope the children know how thankful I am to be their mother and MJ knows how thankful I am to be his wife. Really really thankful for all our family and our extended family of friends.

There is nothing like getting up first thing early in the morning and going for a run. It feels so good and it’s so nice to see the city wake up slowly. I try to go everyday. Today running with my fried Maryann was so great because she said she would do a triathlon with me and show me what to do. I can’t wait.

Today was the perfect day. We got to co-host the donuts and football party with Our friends Elizabeth and Dan in the park, eat dinner at Mitzi and grandpas, and had so much to be thankful for. Charlie has been more excited about Thanksgving and the donuts and football than about his birthday or Halloween. I loved watching him play today and get so excite about all his friends coming out. Oliver was in NYC but Charlie said “Mommy, when you get home from getting the donuts open up one of the boxes and take out a donut and put it in a bag and that one is for Oliver. ” I’m so proud of him for being such a thoughtful, loyal and devoted friend.

At dinner tonight we held hands and then went around the table and said what we were thankful for. Teddy looked at me and said “I’m thankful for you.” My heart skipped a beat. I think thanksgiving is now my favorite holiday because we got to see so so so many of our good friends who we adore in the park, because I love seeing the kids be good friends and hosts and run around outside and play in the leaves and because I’m so thankful for my family and friends. There are so many people I love- what could be better than that?

Scottie calls Nelly “Nana” and Nelly calls Scottie “Dotty”. This has been going on for about 5 weeks.
