The girls have both been smiling starting 3 weeks ago. It is amazing–they smile all day. And it is definitely intentional smiling as they do it when you talk to them. I love love love watching them smile. Yesterday Nell spent a good portion of the day smiling at herself in a little mirror in her bassinet.

Teddy is so sweet and constantly generous. When we read This Little Piggy Went to Market in a book with pictures, he also points to the picture of the pig with roast beef and then to the picture of the pig with none and says “Share! Share!”

In one week the babies got their first earthquake and first hurricane! What excitement.

Two crying newborns

A 2 year old, a 3 year old, a barking dog, a cast on, and a hurricane all alone. Somehow it was fine. But was still thrilled when Elena next door took the big kids over there and fed them dinner (and let me use her scale to weigh Nell. Why not go get weighed during a hurricane).

Today when MJ and Teddy were on their way outside and said “Charlie come on,” he responded “I’m going to stay here with the baby.” It was so sweet.

Charlie was also dressed as a fireman and I was standing holding Scottie and Charlie said “You are a tree and the baby is a kitten stuck in a tree and I will save her.” Teddy ran over he shuted “[I’m the] fire chief!!!”

We have a mouse in the house so the night nurse, Emily, and au pair, Siri are really terrified and scream each time they see it. Leo the exterminator comes to deal with it but so far they are still here. Charlie asks “Why does the mouse want to be here?”

Huck had an accident in the house yesterday. Teddy had one today. This seems to keep happening here.
