Teddy tried to say “cat” as “aghghghtaaaat”. He also has picked up a sign for more food which is a hybrid of a hand movement from a song and the sign for “more”.

Today Charlie was very tired and cry-ey–I think because of daylight savings. When I walked him into his classroom he started crying. It was the first time this ever happened. He asked me to stay and read a book, so I sat in their little book corner and read to him. His friend Claire came over and sat on my lap and the minute he saw her he cheered up, leaned over, and said “Than you for the basketball you gave me.” I was stunned that he remembered to say this to her since he had received the gift 3 days before and she wasn’t there when he got it. He obviously really liked the gift and the giver.

I really love the way Charlie says a lot of things–his little voice with it’s toddler accent. Today we were looking at a toy catalog and saw a set called “Dog Academy.” He said “Oh! Dog Academy!” in a really low voice after I rad the name of the toy. I liked it so much I kept asking him to say “Dog Academy.” I don’t think I will ever tire of it.

Charlie has a really great understanding of language, inflection, etc. Like I will say to him “Charlie don’t eat anymore candy.” And he will respond with a hearty, eager and understanding “Ok! Ok, mommy,” while shaking his head as though he really understands what I am going through trying to get him to stop eating the candy. He does it totally to pacify me and then he goes and keeps eating the candy. He also uses that really low voice when he is pretending to play a sport, when he is trying to talk like a buddy to his father or another grown man, or when he sees older boys.

I took C&T to the barber today. Actually, C asked me to take them, “Go get hair cuts? Need a go get hair cuts, Mommy.” T was crying during his cut but Charlie said helpfully “Teddy, it will only take a minute!” They were both happy, as usual to get a lollipop.

Charlie stuck his finger in his ear and I guess felt wax because he immediately said “Mommy, hold my ear fleck,” and tried to hand me a microscopic something.

Charlie went wild for his birthday party yesterday! He helped me make cupcakes, stirring the batter and using a little spoon to pour into the tins. We got rented Jelleff gym, filled it with 100 beach balls that looked like basketballs and said “Three points for turning three Charlie’s Birthday 2010” and threw them all over and served cupcakes to a ton of Charlie’s friends and their parents. He loved it and ran around the whole time and by the end said “Mommy go home? Sleeping time.”
