Despite doing half of it by myself, despite the tears, some shouting from the back seat, and bot T & C throwing up in the car, the drive home from Vineyard was really easy.

But I think being home without his grandparents, cousins, aunt and uncle is going to be really hard for these guys. They are so happy when they are with everyone on the Vineyard.

Tonight while I was putting T to bed, I told Charlie to try to use the potty since he hadn’t had a new diaper put on him yet after his bath and since I needed him to do something beside distract Teddy while he was getting ready to sleep. As I sat in the rocking chair I could hear Charlie go into his bathroom, close the door, use his potty, pour it into the toilet, flush, wash his hands, and then walk out. I asked him “Did you do all that by yourself?!?” and He nonchalantly said “Yeah,” as he walked into his room. Time to really potty train. I guess tomorrow he can wear big boy underwear.

Teddy really likes to say “Hi” to people by having them hold him. He will reach out to get the person to pick him up and then after about 30 seconds or so reach back to have me take him back. It’s not everyone and not strangers (though he did do it to another woman at an outdoor concert at Featherstone on the Vineyard last week), but usually people he has seen a few times before. Like today in the park he had Coach John do it and then a friend of mine from Blue Igloo. So friendly.

Today I bought Teddy a rabbit puppet–he loves stuffed animals and can’t get enough of puppets.

Today we took Charlie to see a theater troupe, the Fabulists, perform. He LOVE it. There was lots of audience participation (like the prince character asked the kids “What do I say when I want to talk to girls?” and he kids yelled out say: “Hi,” “Ask her name,” “Invite her for dinner,” “Make her lunch,” “Give her dessert,” “Play tag,” “Let her use your internet.” Charlie jumped in and helped act like a monster during one scene and hen uninvited went over the “orchestra’ sat down and started keeping the beat with a drunk stick and playing a cymbal.

Teddy and Charlie LOVE, I mean LOVE, the beach. They could spend all day in the sand and water. Charlie “surfs” on his boogie board. Teddy “eats” sand.
Being on the beach is probably my favorite thing in the world so this makes me really happy.
MJ and I also try to kayak all the time on the Vineyard. Huck likes it a lot too.

Yesterday Charlie went out with us for his first kayak ride. I can’t say he loved that but he seemed interested. Maybe we’ll stick with Huck in the boat.

Today Charlie took his second swimming lesson this summer. He went under water, learned to climb out of the pool, and kicked on a noodle all by himself. He was really proud when Mj was telling me about it.

Teddy loves these little king, queen, prince, and princess finger puppets and crawls around with them. He also loves peaking into this little toy truck to se the “drivers” and says “Hi” to them.

Charlie and I rode together yesterday at Arrowhead Farm and we both (especially me) had so so much fun. We went in the ring and then out on a trail ride. He did so well and sat up in the saddle totally fearlessly and rode around having a conversation with the sweet Irish girl leading him. At one point he said “I want my mommy,” so I pulled back nest to him and rode right there and he was fine. He picked Nick to ride and I rode Zip.
