Isn’t there something so Vermeer about Huck?

I know you’re not supposed to say how smart you think your baby is, but here are two things Charlie did that were pretty good
1. We were reading Oh My Oh My Oh Dinosaur and on the page where it says “Dinosaurs waving right at you to say goodbye because we’re through” Charlie waved at the page (though maybe waving at a book is the opposite of being smart).
2. When Colin left the playroom and closed the pocket door behind him, Charlie looked under the door to see where he was going.

Right before we left for the Vineyard, C learned how to play “Where’s Charlie” by putting a blanket on his head by himself. He was so proud.

C laughs and laughs if I kiss his little feet while he’s sitting in his stroller. If he wants to initiate this game,he sticks his foot out like so…

Pop Culture

Today we got a jack-in-the-box (or rather Curious George-in-the-box.) When C first saw it he was delighted by the shiny box and the little music it was making. But after the pop,he was a little unsure of that monkey popping out. We’ll try again tomorrow.
* They should make a Cool Hand Luke-in-the-box, since he actually was in a box.

Talk This way

Charlie woke up yesterday morning with an entire new language of babbling. He just talks and talks and talks, stringing together every possible sound combination. I love listening to it.

C and I have long conversations with him going “yaya baba dada yabadayababbadyadadadadadadaabababobobo.”He goes on and on and on. And I reply back to everything he says. And when I pick him up out of his crib he says “abob.” I love it.
