It’s the thirtieth anniversary of Footloose. Thank goodness dancing isn’t outlawed. To celebrate I had Diana explain to the kids where she was last night (a club) and how everyone dances in clubs.

Karen came to visit from Dublin this weekend which set off godmother mania. The girls were so thrills when she arrived and came into their room at bedtime bearing gifts of puzzles and sunglasses. Teddy was so excited when Carol came to read to him. Charlie was excited he got to stay up late.

The sound of taking the bit out of a horses mouth, the sound of the buckles on the tack, the feel of the leather, the smell of the horses is so comforting and reminds me of high school riding. I hope the children can learn to enjoy these simple things.
Today’s long hug with Garcia who I’ve been riding the most was so dreamy and finally a ride outside! It has been too cOld and snowy for them to be turned out.
I’m trying to take the boys for lessons and the girls for pony rides as much as I can because I want them to experience the pleasure, see what they are capable of, and become at ease with horses and understand how much big animals can offer. I think it will make them more intuitive, sensitive, focused, confident and athletic (I also think this about music lessons, certain stories, art, other sports. I guess a lot of what I have them do.
